Legal document automation that fills your templates from the matter
For firms still pasting a client name into 40 places in a Word file. We build drafting that pulls parties, dates, venue and fee terms from your practice management system into your own templates, plus reading that turns client uploads into named, filed and summarized records. An attorney reviews every draft before it leaves the firm.
- Your Word templates, not a new editor
- Fields pulled from Clio, Filevine or MyCase
- Every draft routed to an attorney
What goes wrong in a copied document
Last client's name on page six
Starting from a prior matter's file means stale names, wrong pronouns and the other county's caption slipping through, and eventually one reaches opposing counsel.
Engagement letters missing a term
A rushed letter leaves out the scope limit or the contingency calculation. Model Rule 1.5 requires contingent fee agreements in a writing signed by the client that states the method, so a missing term matters.
Client uploads named IMG_4471
Medical records, pay stubs and contracts arrive as phone photos in a general inbox. A paralegal renames, sorts and summarizes each one before anyone can use it.
What our legal document automation builds
Two halves: drafting out of your systems, and reading what comes in. Both use your templates, your naming rules and your folders.
Template drafting from matter fields
Parties, case numbers, venue, dates and fee terms flow from the matter record into your Word templates, with conditional clauses by jurisdiction and fee type.
Engagement and fee agreements
Scope, rate or percentage, cost terms and responsible attorney are filled from the approved intake, then sent through DocuSign only after attorney sign-off.
Routine pleadings and discovery shells
Notices of appearance, standard discovery requests and response shells built with the right caption and definitions. The substance stays with the attorney.
Incoming document reading
Uploads are classified as medical records, bills, contracts or correspondence, renamed to your convention and filed to the matter in NetDocuments, iManage or your drive.
Records chronologies
Medical records and correspondence become a dated chronology with page cites back to the source, so the reviewer checks each entry against the original.
Pre-send checks
Before a draft reaches review it is scanned for names from other matters, blank fields and mismatched dates or captions.
Where drafts get their data and where they land
Clio and Filevine
Matter, contact and custom field data read through each vendor's official API.
NetDocuments and iManage
Finished drafts and classified uploads saved to the right workspace and folder through their APIs, inside your existing security.
Microsoft Word
Your existing .docx templates with content controls, so staff keep editing where they already work.
HotDocs, Clio Draft or Gavel
If an assembly tool already works for you, we supply it data and handle the incoming documents it does not cover.
Intake that feeds the letter
Approved intake facts become the engagement letter fields.
Expert and vendor invoices
Invoices that arrive with records are extracted and coded to the matter as costs.
Drafting controls a supervising attorney can sign off on
Competence under Rule 1.1
Formal Opinion 512 expects lawyers to understand a tool's limits. Each draft lists where every field came from, so the reviewer checks the source and not just the prose.
Nothing filed or sent unreviewed
Drafts land in a review folder. Filing with a court or sending to a client is a separate step a lawyer takes.
No invented citations
Pleading shells carry your standard language only. The system does not write legal argument or add case law, which is where AI drafting has gotten lawyers sanctioned.
Files stay in your document system
Documents are read where they live and results written back, under accounts in your firm's name with no training on your inputs.
“He got me 9 sales in my first 7 days of launching our campaign, which exceeded my expectations!”
Common questions
What is legal document automation?
Software that fills your templates from matter data and reads the documents clients send in. It removes the copying and renaming and leaves the legal substance to your attorneys.
Do we have to rebuild our templates in a new editor?
No. We start from your Word files and add fields and conditional clauses to them. Staff still open and edit them in Word.
Can it draft engagement letters that meet our state's rules?
It drafts from the template your firm approves, with the terms your rules call for. Fee agreement requirements vary by state, so your attorneys own the template content and review every letter before it goes out.
Will it write motions or briefs?
It builds captions, definitions and standard shells. Argument and citations stay with your attorneys, and the system is not allowed to add authority on its own.
How do we check a records chronology?
Every entry carries a page reference back to the source PDF. A paralegal or attorney verifies the entries before the chronology is relied on.
We already use HotDocs. Is this a replacement?
Usually not. If HotDocs or Clio Draft does the assembly well, we feed it matter data and take on the incoming-document side.
Stop starting from last client's file
Take the 2-minute AI audit to see which documents your firm should template first.
- Collect your ten most-used templates
We gather the documents staff produce most and mark every field, clause variant and formatting rule in them.
- Tie each field to its source
Every field is linked to where the data lives in Clio, Filevine or another system, and missing data is listed for you to decide on.
- Draft side by side
Staff produce documents the usual way while the automation drafts the same ones, and attorneys compare the results.
- Keep templates current
When a court form, rate or rule changes, we update the template and its logic as part of monthly maintenance.
